So in my recent instagram post, i filmed a tutorial on my everyday loose beach waves. Since the video is pretty fast pace i figured i would also have the step-by-step info here incase you can't grasp it from the video!

First lets go over sectioning. I start by splitting my hair all the way down the middle and pick a side to start. From there make horizontal sections up the side of your head clipping everything else up and out of the way. Starting underneath, you should end up sectioning about 3-4 times up each side of your head. In each section, you want to grab about an inch thick piece of hair to curl. You should have about 3 vertical curls per section.

Now when curling, you want to have a 1.25" thick curling iron. I currently use the theorie iron and that size is perfect for every length. When curling there are 3 things you always want to remember:

1. Smooth your strand first. Start by smoothing your inch thick piece as if your straightening it. By doing so your curls will look more shiney and polished.

2. You always want to curl away from your face. A little tip i always tell my clients who are getting "the kink" is to make sure that your clamp of the curling iron is facing the mirror. After smoothing, place your piece of hair between the barrel and the clamp starting close to the head. Slide your curling iron an inch down the midshaft of your piece and twist back away from your face. Hold your barrel vertical and with each spin keep repositioning the barrel more so towards your base. Repeat 1-3 times depending on the length of your hair. With that technique, you'll be putting more heat towards the top of your curl and less heat on your ends. This allows for less damage and more volume.

And lastly 3. always leave 1-2" of your ends straight. This will give you more of a wave. When finished, let your curls cool down and apply hairspray. Brush through your curls using a wet brush. Hope this step by step helps you guys!!

XO Happy Thursday :)
